May 2021 - COVID-19 Update
Effective Monday, May 10, 2021, the public will once again be able to enter all county buildings without first needing to make an appointment. All Cumberland County government facilities will continue to adhere to PA Department of Health and CDC guidelines. This includes social distancing, wearing a mask, and utilizing the hand sanitizing stations located within the county facilities. All areas will be sanitized, as our facilities management team has done since the pandemic began.
Who We Are
The Cumberland County Planning Department helps build strong urban, suburban, and rural communities by promoting responsible economic development, providing transportation choices, encouraging housing diversity, and conserving natural resources in partnership with our 33 municipal governments.
What We Do
The Cumberland County Planning Department executes a number of core activities in pursuit of its mission:
- Preparation and implementation of the Cumberland County Comprehensive Plan
- Subdivision/land development plan and ordinance amendment review
- Management of Cumberland County-owned bridges
- Hazard mitigation planning
- Farmland preservation
- Parks, trails, greenways and open space planning
- Municipal technical assistance
