This site allows you to submit information for a marriage application, which is NOTCOMPLETE until both the applicants appear in the Clerk of Orphans' Court office with the required documentation such as a certified copy of divorce decree, death certificate, Printed Confirmation Number and valid photo ID (see Guidelines for Applying for Marriage License for more details on requirements).

To comply with the Governor's directives, the Courthouse will be mandatory telework where possible and BY APPOINTMENT ONLY if in person is necessary. We encourage video conferencing, phone calls, and mail, for all business with our office.
Attention marriage applicants: If you are NOT a Cumberland County resident, your marriage application must be done by video conference.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR PAPERWORK AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS PRIOR TO THE WEDDING DATE TO ALLOW FOR PROCESSING.

WHEN: You can complete the application process by appearing in the Clerk of Orphans' Court Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday thru Friday (except holidays)
There is a 3 day waiting period from the time the applicants appear in the Clerk of Orphans' Court office until the license becomes valid. The license is only valid for 60 calendar days from the date it is issued.
COST: $55 (must be paid in CASH)
WHERE CAN THE LICENSE BE USED? A marriage license issued in Cumberland County may be used anywhere in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Likewise, a license issued in any other county in Pennsylvania may be used in Cumberland County.
