Polls & Bureau of Elections Open

All 118 Cumberland County polling places open at 7 a.m. Find your polling place

Our Bureau of Elections opens at 7 a.m. and accepts hand delivered mail-in and absentee ballots until 8 p.m.

9AM Election Day at the Cumberland County

Pre-canvassing Begins

At 9 a.m. pre-canvassing of mail-in and absentee ballots begins.

Pre-canvassing includes: 

  • Verifying and opening ballots
  • Preparing ballots to be scanned
  • Scanning ballots

Results are not published until after the polls close at 8 p.m.

8 PM Election Day at the Cumberland County

Polls Close And Counting Begins

At 8 p.m., all Cumberland County polling places close, and the Bureau of Elections stops accepting mail-in and absentee ballots.

Results from the polls are delivered to the Bureau of Elections and tabulated.

Counting (canvassing) of mail-in and absentee ballots begins and continues until all results are in from the polls. 

Unofficial election night results are posted on the website and counting continues the following morning, and each subsequent day at 8 a.m. for any remaining ballots.
